Our Volcano Project!

We made our own stratovolcanoes! Just like beautiful Popocatepetl near Mexico City that we can see on a clear day.

Throughout the blog you'll find comments by the students.

"I found the last class very interesting because we aplied what we have learned these
weekends. Especially, I like to make things not only to read about them, in this way
I remember much better that we have seen in the previous classes" - D

"Today I have a lot of fun because we made a volcano and we made it erupt. We made parts and put little people. We also saw a video of volcanoes and we did a presentation about how volcanoes erupt and how we made our volcanoes" - T

First we taped tubes to a cardboard box and used scrunched up old paper to make the structures.

"I liked the class, because we do to much activities, I would like to do more activities like the volcano that we did last Saturday" - N

Then we covered the structures in kitchen foil.

Then we painted them!

"I really enjoyed the class, it was so funny and entertain.

A first, was difficult paste the paper balls for the volcano, but we could
fasten the form of the volcano.

Also it was funny to paint the volcano, the colors, he combination was so great.

but for me the best thing of this class, was the explosion of the volcano."
 - D

We made cross-sections on the back of each so we could show what is inside a stratovolcano!

We put bicarbonate of soda inside then put in vinagre with red food colouring to make them ERUPT!

Look at that lava go!

We rescued the volcanologist!
